Sport & Recreation Alliance – Karate Meeting
On Friday 28 October 2011 representatives from the karate groups that are members of the Sport & Recreation Alliance
(S & R.A the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies for sport and recreation in the UK) attended a meeting hosted by the S and R. A to explore a possible new way forward with regard to the future of karate in England.
The meeting, which was attended by a number of English karate groups, was convened in order to discuss the potential for a moreunited and cohesive approach to karate governance in this country, whilst not threatening the integrity or autonomy of the respective organisations involved.
All those in attendance agreed that it was a useful and productive first meeting and have indicated their willingness to participate in further discussions in order to examine the issues in more detail and move the debate forward.
